Every week, we at Highsnobiety take some time to highlight one of our favorite emerging brands. Last week, we featured luxury durags brand L’ENCHANTEUR, and now we’ve decided to shine a light on L.A.-based accessories label DR14.

Along with side bags, chest rigs have been showing up on the fronts of fashion’s inner-circle. Recently rocked by everyone from Kanye West to Migos, the tactical accessory is becoming increasingly popular with those in the know. And while ALYX’s chest rigs may be the most recognizable of the trend, other lesser-hyped brands are killing it in that department, too.

Some of our favorite pieces come from DR14, a black-owned men’s accessories brand based in Los Angeles. Sheron Barber — the creative mind behind the brand — originally started out designing apparel such as T-shirts and pants. And while his designs were rocked by the likes of Chris Brown and Drake, he soon decided to focus on accessories. The shift, said Barber, was caused by a realization that unlike tees and pants, a good bag lasts forever.

DR14’s bags recently got their big break during the shoot for Migos’ Stir Fry video. A friend of Barber was wearing the DR14 CT Stealth Rig, which quickly caught the attention of Quavo and Offset from Migos. The two rappers bought theirs that same day, kickstarting a wave of exposure that catapulted the bags into the hip-hop arena. DR14’s chest rigs were soon spotted on artists such as Rihanna, 21 Savage, Wiz Khalifa, Young Thug, Teyana Taylor, and Metro Boomin, to name a few.
